ISO beam floor

‘Jansen Beton Zeewolde B.V.’ together with ‘Adviesbureau Opzeeland’ and ‘Unidek Bouwelementen’ have jointly developed a new insulated ground floor that includes all of the beneficial properties of conventional systems. The ISO beam floor is constructed from prestressed concrete beams and is available in various construction heights and RC values. Depending on the type, spans in excess of 8 metres are possible.

Transverse beams are used for large recesses and enhanced stability requirements. The floor has an acting width of 1200 mm and a very high insulating value. The low weight and the fact that the floor is equipped with lifting eyes, reduces transportation, crane and installation costs. Moreover, less load is exerted on the foundation. The ISO beam floor is used for house building and for commercial and industrial building.

The ISO beam floor has a standard insulating value of Rc = 3.0 m2 K/W.

The floor is composed of 6 prestressed concrete beams with an average width of 100 mm. The height of the concrete beam is variable and depends on the span, but for the time being, is standard at 220 mm (total height is 320 mm) and 265 mm (total height is 365 mm).

The plates have a standard width of 1200 mm. Depending on the load and span, the beams are connected by means of reinforced transverse beams with a width and a height of 100 mm. The connection to the top of the floor is made during the work by using a reinforced top layer that satisfies the requirements of compressive strength class B15 and is equipped with a reinforcement mesh (minimum Ø = 5 mm), interweaving 250 mm.

Just to list the main properties:
- installed using lifting eyes;
- Rc = 3.0 – 5.0 m2 K/W;
- constructive height d = 320 mm and d = 365 mm for Rc = 3.0 m2 K/W;
- recesses can be easily made during the work;
- large spans possible (Lmax = 8000 mm).

The constructions in which the floors are used must belong to the category of supported constructions in accordance with art. 2.2 of NEN 6720.

Line loads of less than or equal to 3 kN/m and concentrated loads of less than or equal to 3kN acting on a surface area of 0.5 x 0.5 m may be used (depending on span and any other loads).

Depending on the type, a joint with a maximum width of 100 mm may be present between each of the plates.

“Slab effect” may be incorporated in the floors, provided that a constructive finishing layer is used that is at least 40 mm thick, is strength class B15 or higher, and is reinforced with a interwoven grid consisting of bars with a minimum nominal diameter of 5 mm and a maximum distance between centre-lines of 250 mm (steel type FEB 500).
